Sickness….of the heart?

Sickness… of the heart?

July 6, 2011

This morning I woke up feeling worse than usual..Not that I wake up feeling bad every morning, but it wasn’t the usual groggy, tired feeling.  I just went on with my day not thinking too much of it. Then while reading, I fell asleep..slept for an hour, when I woke up this time… I. Was. Sick! How did I know I was sick? Fever, stomach feeling nasty, and a headache.

Now, I am sitting in my bed with the foods that usually make me feel better. .

#1 Vanilla pudding with Slices of Banana AND sprinkles.

#2Chicken noodle soup.

#3 Cheetos.

I was thinking though.. Do you ever feel like your Heart gets sick.. Not a heart attack, but spiritually sick? How can your heart be spiritually sick, you crazy lady? (Maybe that is what you’re thinking) So how about the days where you feel like complaining about everything. You are bitter. Or, just having a plain awful day, and being grumpy with everyone?- We all have those days.THAT is what I call a “Sick Heart”.

We should have “food” to make our sick hearts feel better too. . Here are some of my heart healthy foods:

“The Lord said ‘I will guide you in the best pathway for your life.'”- Psalm 32:8

Why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how beautifully they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are, and if God cares so much about the wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, He will certainly care for you. So don’t worry about these things, saying ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the minds of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father knows all your needs. Seek the kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need.” -Matthew 6:28-33

“Then Jesus said ‘Come to me all who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am gentle and humble at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear and the burden I give you is light.”- Matthew 11:28-30

Ya know, even if we keep our bodies healthy sometimes we still get sick, but the recovery time is MUCH quicker! We need to keep our hearts healthy too, then the recovery time of our ‘Sickness’ will also be quicker.

“My child pay attention to what I say. Listen carefully to my words. Don’t lose sight of them. Let them penetrate your heart. For they bring life to those who find them and healing to their bodies.”- Proverbs 4:20-22
